Tuition varies depending on class length and the number of classes a dancer takes each week. Fees are invoiced by term, with multi-class discounts available. Please contact us or view our current registration information for up-to-date tuition rates.
2. Is there a registration fee?
A. Yes. An annual registration fee of $35 per family applies to returning families, and $40 per family for new families.
3. Is there a performance?
A. Yes! All Steps Ahead dancers have the opportunity to perform in our annual year-end production, traditionally held on the final weekend in May.
4. What costs are associated with the performance?
A. Families should expect additional costs associated with our year-end production, including costumes and performance-related fees. Full details and current costs are provided to families well in advance of the performance.
5. Can I try a class out before registering?
A. Absolutely. We want dancers to feel happy and comfortable in their class. As many of our classes fill quickly, we recommend registering to secure a place and attending the first class. If the class isn’t the right fit, simply let us know and we’ll be happy to discuss other options.
6. Can I watch my dancer in class?
A. To help dancers stay focused and get the most from their class, our studios are generally closed to parent viewing. We understand that younger dancers may need a little extra support during their first few weeks, and we are happy to work with families during this transition. Parents are invited to a special Viewing Day each term.
7. How do Steps Ahead communicate with parents?
A. Email is our primary method of communication with families, so we ask parents to check their inbox regularly for studio news, important dates and class information. And of course, if you have a question or concern, we are always happy to chat with you.
8. How do I pay my tuition and account charges?
A. E-transfer is our preferred method of payment. We also accept debit at the studio and credit card payments with a 2.5% surcharge. Cash or cheque may be accepted by prior arrangement.
9. Does my dancer have to take exams?
A. Not at all. Steps Ahead offers opportunities for dancers to work toward examinations with the Royal Academy of Dance (Ballet), Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (Modern and Tap), and Acrobatic Arts (Acro). Examinations are optional, and entry is recommended only when a dancer is ready and following discussion with the dancer and their family.
10. Are your teachers qualified?
A. Yes. Our experienced faculty includes qualified dance educators with extensive training across a range of dance disciplines. You can learn more about each member of our teaching team on our Our Team page.
11. What should my dancer wear to class?
A. Each class has a dress code designed to allow dancers to move safely and for teachers to clearly see alignment and technique. Requirements vary by class and level, so please check our Dress Code page for the appropriate dancewear, shoes and hairstyle.
12. How do I register?
A. Registration is easy! Create a family account through our online registration portal, add your dancer’s information, and then select the appropriate class(es) for the current season. If you’re unsure which class is the best fit, please contact us — we’re happy to help. https://app.thestudiodirector.com/stepsaheadbc/portal.sd
