“The Shows Must Go On”

MAY 28 & 29, 2021

We are so excited to actually perform our dances on stage next month. Unlike a live performance in front of an audience, our show will be pre-taped at Cowichan Performing Arts Centre (CPAC), with no audience.

There are some further details we need you to be aware of for this event and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email or call:

ALL DANCERS WILL TAKE PART IN THIS RECORDING EVENT!!

Unlike past years, we will not split the show by genre (classical and modern/tap) and we will be filming in our cohorts. Each recording session will be run with both Steps Ahead Dance’s and CPAC’s mitigation plans in place.

Before entering the building we will be taking temperature checks and using hand sanitizer. As always, we ask that you Please do not come to CPAC if you are unwell.

Dancers must arrive at the loading dock door of CPAC and will be met and guided backstage (or to the warm up room) by a member of Steps Ahead Dance faculty.

Sadly, parents will not be permitted in the building. Arrival and departure times are crucial to pull off this ambitious event, so please mark your calendars, and double check your dancer’s arrival and departure times at CPAC.

Dancers must be:

  1. On-time
  2. Have hair and make-up DONE (your teacher will send instructions via email)
  3. Dressed in their first costume (with any further costumes for that session in their labeled bin)
  4. Masked (plain white mask, please) while not dancing
  5. Remember to social distance whenever possible

As you will see by the schedules below, time will be of the essence. Each class will practice on stage before they are filmed. When a class is finished they will be escorted to the door for pick-up. If your dancer is only in one piece he/she must leave the building after performing. If your dancer is in multiple pieces, she/he will be picked up at the end of the session.

New This Year

  1. Live Feed from Back-Stage. Imagine your own backstage pass! Via FaceBook, we plan on sharing a livestream where you might get a glimpse of your dancer before s/he hits the stage. Learn a little more about the way things work behind the scenes and join in the excitement. More info to follow.

STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHS WITH SHEENA DAVIES PHOTOGRAPHY

Due to the nature of this year’s show, we will be unable to have group photos taken on stage. (Teachers will be taking candid pics between May 10th – 15th, when your dancer will be asked to come to class in costume for a dress rehearsal.)

Optional solo photos are available this year on May 23rd (at Studo2). Be sure to book your spot today! Sheena has been our professional photographer for several years now. The magical images she captures never fail to impress. If you wish to have a photo taken with a friend or classmate (in your social bubble) let Sheena know.
