We trust you enjoyed valuable time with your family this festive season and wish you health and happiness in 2022. I cannot express how grateful I am to be working with your dancers again this year. The prospect of a live show in May has the faculty ecstatic. As working artists, we have felt the weight of the pandemic, but your dancers have kept us buoyant. Thank you always for your support.
Steps Ahead Dance is pleased to be able to remain open at this time; the latest public order requires gyms and adult dance studios to close. We will, as always, keep your dancer’s health as our top priority and continue to request you keep your dancer home if there are any symptoms appear or indeed if your dancer is isolating due to travel outside of the country.
Our classes remain available on Zoom to any dancer not wishing or unable to attend in person and as the school district moves to a staggered opening, we invite you to make this choice during the first part of January.
Costumes
Students will require a costume per dance for the show. These costumes may be ordered, rented or commissioned for your dancer. Costume fees will be shared with you as we become aware of the cost of each garment (January through April). Emails will be sent to each class individually. Please pay your costume balance within 30 days of receiving notice. We endeavour to keep these costs as low as possible.
Show and Videography Fees
As per 2020, you will see two charges added to your account (March 1st). The first for theatre/faculty fee for the use of CPAC during rehearsals ($20), and the second for videography/streaming through DanceBug ($30). We have been using DanceBug since 2016; it is so rewarding to be able to log in and watch all of the past shows. Feb 19th and 21st – closed for regular classes as we celebrate Family Day Weekend.
March 1st Term 3 commences and Term 3 and theatre/DanceBug fees are due
March 13th – 26th – closed for Spring Break
April 6th – May 6th RAD Intermediate Foundation exams.
April 15th – 18th – closed for Easter
May 21st – 23rd TBA
May 26th and 27th Dress Rehearsals 3pm – 9pm CPAC. Details to follow.
May 28th – Steps Ahead Dance is pleased to present STARGAZING – 2pm and 7pm
2pm show to include all SAPG dances. 7pm show to include all graduate solos and our annual awards presentation.
All students will perform in both shows. Ticket details to follow soon.
As per last year, we are considering hosting two summer exam intensives – this will be confirmed in the spring:
June 27th – June 30th – Summer Exam Intensive MODERN AND TAP
July 4th – July 8th – Summer Exam Intensive BALLET
